An agreement whereby the owner of the property agrees to pay a real estate broker an agreed upon commission should the broker find a purchaser ready, willing and able to pay a price for the property that is accepted by the owner. With the open listing realty agreement the owner retains the right to sell the property himself/herself or through other brokers. The real estate listing agreement is used for property that needs to be sold quickly or is a tough sell.
