DOJ approves Google acquisition of Motorola Mobility

The U.S. Department of Justice has approved Google's acquisition of mobile-phone and tablet maker Motorola Mobility for about $12.5 billion, following the European Commission's approval earlier in the day. Google is still waiting for approvals from China, Israel and Taiwan before the deal is final. Canada's investigation is also ongoing. Hewlett-Packard on Monday introduced Gen8, its next generation of servers, which integrate new technologies designed to cut overall maintenance and power costs in data centers while maintaining high server uptimes. Gen8 servers have new hardware and software technology for better performance-per-watt and a reduction in the manual labor involved in updating servers, HP said.
