SP Accelerator - Scan to SharePoint Feat 2009
With a built in twain compliant interface, this addition further strengthens the power behind an Offline SharePoint thick client. Using any twain compliant scanner with a Automatic Document feeder, users can create new multipage Tiff images or PDF documents in bulk. Multiple documents are supported in a single scan batch, either with each page marked as a single document or by using the blank page separator feature to split groups of pages into single multipage documents.
Combining the bulk scanning features with the built in Optical Character recognition functionality available in this edition, users will be able to scan documents in bulk and then OCR multiple Zones on a page to extract metadata to populate SharePoint fields. A huge time saver for any organization who needs to bulk scan and OCR documents in a SharePoint into a document library which will ultimately be used to trigger custom workflows or other Records Management business rules.
For users or organizations who make use of digital cameras or mobile phones, the twain interface available in this edition and higher will allow you to extract the photos of your choice directly into your offline SharePoint picture library. Combined with OCR functionality you could create some interesting solutions for your users which OCR text data from your photos which could ultimately trigger custom SharePoint workflows.

HP hopes to cut data center costs with new Gen8 servers 13 Feb 2012 Hewlett-Packard on Monday introduced Gen8, its next generation of servers, which integrate new technologies designed to cut overall maintenance and power costs in data centers while maintaining high server uptimes. Gen8 servers have new hardware and software technology for better performance-per-watt and a reduction in the manual labor involved in updating servers, HP said.
