DOJ approves Google acquisition of Motorola Mobility 13 Feb 2012 The U.S. Department of Justice has approved Google's acquisition of mobile-phone and tablet maker Motorola Mobility for about $12.5 billion, following the European Commission's approval earlier in the day. Google is still waiting for approvals from China, Israel and Taiwan before the deal is final. Canada's investigation is also ongoing. The search giant still says it hopes the acquisition will close in "early 2012." |
HP hopes to cut data center costs with new Gen8 servers 13 Feb 2012 Hewlett-Packard on Monday introduced Gen8, its next generation of servers, which integrate new technologies designed to cut overall maintenance and power costs in data centers while maintaining high server uptimes. Gen8 servers have new hardware and software technology for better performance-per-watt and a reduction in the manual labor involved in updating servers, HP said. The automatic updating and server load-balancing features will help save millions of dollars over a three-year span, HP said. |
